Vascular & Interventional Radiology Fellowship
The Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Washington Hospital Center provides the unique opportunity for fellows to develop clinical skills and research interests under the tutelage of a large, experienced faculty in the preeminent hospitals in the Washington, D.C. area. The fellowship program successfully prepares the trainee for a leading role as an academic or private practice interventional radiologist.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The objectives are to provide trainees with a comprehensive, closely supervised educational experience in vascular/interventional radiology, emphasizing the performance of vascular and nonvascular diagnostic and interventional procedures and integration of the procedure into clinical patient care.

SELECTION PROCESS
This program participates in the National Resident Match. We only accept applications via ERAS.
Selected candidates will be invited for tours and interviews with faculty. Interviews typically commence at 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. and conclude by 2:00 p.m. MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is easily accessed by public transportation from Union Station (Amtrak) or Ronald Reagan National Airport.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
A candidate for the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Interventional Radiology Fellowship Program must show:
- Completion of a radiology residency in an accredited United States Training program
- Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Radiology
- Foreign graduates need to have completed a radiology residency and are required to hold an ECFMG certification (step 1, 2 and 3, plus language test). Please note that MedStar Georgetown University Hospital only sponsors J1 visas.
FELLOWSHIP POSITIONS
Three fellowship positions are available each year.
